Implementing multilevel colon cancer screening interventions to reduce rural cancer disparities

Colorectal cancer is a leading cause of cancer death. Screening is effective at reducing colorectal cancer mortality, but is limited when patients who screen positive do not receive complete diagnostic follow-up. This study tests a multi-level intervention to promote evaluation and follow-up of positive colorectal cancer screening tests in a rural area that is medically underserved and has high rates of colorectal cancer mortality compared to urban and suburban areas.
